Dueling Champions!

The 2015 Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Championship took place in Kyoto, Japan, this past weekend! It was a huge party, and Duelists from all over the world congregated to celebrate the upcoming twentieth year anniversary of Yu-Gi-Oh! and to find out who would be the strongest Duelist and Dragon Duelist in the world.

Ygo Worldchampionship 2In the World Championship Tournament, twenty Duelists who qualified through the World Championship Qualifier program, along with two others specially invited to compete, faced off across eight total rounds to decide the World Champion. The top 12 players from the Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifiers around the world also competed to determine who would be the best Dragon Duelist of the year. In the end, Shunsuke Hiyama of Japan won in the all-age tournament, and Mijail Flores of Peru was victorious in the Dragon Duel tournament. Both Duelists were successful with ’tellarknight Decks.

Meanwhile, Duelists who were lucky enough to make it into the hall were able to play three-on-three team matches or challenge the World Championship competitors for a chance to win cool prizes. There was also a promotional event for the upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! movie, The Dark Side of Dimensions, featuring the Japanese voice actors for Yugi and Kaiba. The movie will feature a new story with the cast of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series!
