High-Res Duel!

Synchro Summoning goes hand-in-hand with Pendulum Monsters, especially the Resonators and “Red Dragon Archfiend” Synchros from High-Speed Riders!

By John Bae December 17, 2015

Synchro Summoning is the Extra Deck Summoning method with the most natural compatibility with the Pendulum Monsters in the Master of Pendulum Structure Deck. Pendulum Monsters used for Synchro Summoning will go to your Extra Deck where you can just Pendulum Summon them right back! Tuners will still go to the Graveyard assuming they aren’t Pendulum Monsters, but that’s where the Resonators and “Red Dragon Archfiend” Synchros from High-Speed Riders come in!

As always, you’ll want to start by deciding which Pendulum Monsters you want to put in your Pendulum Zones and which ones you want to Pendulum Summon. Being able to Pendulum Summon Red Resonator is the main priority here, so you’ll want your low Pendulum Scale monsters to have a Scale of 1. That means Stargazer Magician and Dragonpulse Magician are your best bets. On the top end, you’ll want the high-Level Pendulum Scale 8 Dragonvein Magician, whose Normal Monster status and Spell/Trap destruction ability make him indispensable in this strategy!

The Pendulum Monsters you want to Summon should pair up with the Resonators to make Level 8 Synchros. Not only does that give you the whole “Red Dragon Archfiend” line of Synchro Monsters, it also gives you access to Stardust Dragon for protecting your Pendulum Zones and Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer for striking down opposing Pendulum Monster Cards.

The Level 6 Oafdragon Magician pairs nicely with Red Resonator, giving you 2100 extra LP with Red Resonator’s effect and a “Magician” or “Odd-Eyes” Pendulum Monster back from your Graveyard with Oafdragon in addition to your 8 Levels’ worth of Synchro Material. Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon can pair with any of the Level 1 Resonators to give you a Level 8 as well. But the best-case scenario is to Pendulum Summon Oafdragon Magician, Red Resonator and Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon all at once with access to Chain Resonator, either by drawing it or searching it out with Resonator Call!

If you can assemble this combo, you can gain 2500 LP, retrieve a card from your Graveyard and Synchro Summon a “Red Dragon Archfiend” monster. Then you can Normal Summon Chain Resonator and use it to Special Summon Synkron Resonator from your Deck, since there’s a Synchro Monster on the field. Combine Chain Resonator with either Odd-Eyes or your Red Dragon Archfiend to Summon Stardust Dragon or Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss to protect your field, then use Synkron Resonator to Synchro Summon whichever one you didn’t Summon before to double up your protection—and your offensive capabilities—and retrieve one of your Resonators from the Graveyard with Synkron’s effect!

Even if your opponent can somehow break past those monsters, because you used Pendulum Monsters and Synkron Resonator for your Synchro Summons, nearly all the cards you used this turn will be available to you again next turn! If you’re looking to heat up your Duels this holiday season, this Hot Red Dragon Archfiend inspired strategy may be just what you’re looking for!

These cards are available now and can be found in Master of the Pendulum Structure Deck and High-Speed Riders!
