DARK monsters have dominated Dueling for the last five months, but a new LIGHT Xyz Monster from Secrets of Eternity is here to put them in their place. Stellarknight Constellar Diamond is a new Rank 5 LIGHT Xyz Monster that works best in ’tellarknight Decks, but thanks to its special Xyz Summoning method, you can use it in any Deck!

Normally you’d have to use three Level 5 LIGHT monsters to Xyz Summon Stellarknight Constellar Diamond, but it can also be Xyz Summoned during your Main Phase 2 by using a ’tellarknight Xyz Monster you control and its Materials instead. That means that any Deck that can Summon three Level 4 monsters can Xyz Summon Stellarknight Delteros, destroy a card with its effect, attack and then drop Stellarknight Constellar Diamond in Main Phase 2. With 2700 ATK, it’s bigger than Delteros, and its effects can put a stranglehold on two of the most popular Decks around—Shaddolls and Burning Abyss.

While Stellarknight Constellar Diamond is on the field with at least one Xyz Material, cards can’t be sent from the Deck to the Graveyard. That disables Shaddoll Fusion’s ability to fuse monsters from your Deck together and eliminates Dante, Traveller of the Burning Abyss’ ability to send cards to the Graveyard to increase his ATK. But that’s not all: any card that returns from the Graveyard to the hand gets banished instead. So the effects of the “El Shaddoll” Fusion Monsters to retrieve Fusion Spells from the Graveyard are invalidated as is Dante’s ability to retrieve “Burning Abyss” cards.

Diamond’s final ability lets it detach a Material to negate any DARK monster’s effect and destroy that monster. That shuts down the massive Special Summoning ability of Burning Abyss Decks and turns the Shaddolls into ordinary low DEF monsters that can’t take a hit. It’s the worst nightmare of any Duelist that relies entirely on DARK monsters, and a huge boost for fans of the LIGHT-based ’tellarknight Deck because it’s a great follow-up to Stellarknight Triverr, which we looked at last month.
