What do you think, it seems like the current storyline is a big one. If they make an anime off their series, and the main character gets married, that's a natural ending point. It would be sad, but I prefer manga to end when it's appropriate, the same opinion as Ashirogi.

Possibly, but in in the past
Possibly, but in in the past (for example in volume 6, right when Detective Trap was right below Crow, like only a vote or two, Mashiro-Sensei got sick) bad stuff happens when it seems to be going good.
Unless the author drags the
Unless the author drags the series on just to drag it on I doubt it. This arc has screamed ending since the beginning, and given recent events in Japan's weekly shonen jump...
End
The series is just dragging for me. But this current stuff is epic! Cant wait to see the upcoming stuff. It should end this year.
There is a scenario I wouldn
There is a scenario I wouldn't mind them continuing with; have the main character's arc wrap up (get the anime/get married) and then go in a brand new direction with a focus on different characters, or perhaps the characters much later in their life. I'm fairly sure that's not the artists' style though, they will probably just end it.
post-goal scenario
Actually, Katsura-sensei did this with I"s.
I could see them getting an anime and then Saiko marries Miho, but then they start living as a legit couple and their schedules might cause tension, and who knows, maybe Shuujin and Kaya might have a baby soon and there's new material to be written about.
Also, Shizuka. Dude needs to make an appearance again. It isn't like Ohba-sensei to leave things unattended. He could be a catalyst for something greater. /speculation
I totally forgot about
I totally forgot about Shizuka. It's been a while he's been involved, so we shall see. I would love to see Nanamine enter the picture one more time, just because of the lack of obnoxious people trying to screw with Ashirogi. Great protagonists need great antagonists!
nanamine
[SPOILER AHEAD]
Nanamine was a pissant. I'm all for antagonists, but him appearing twice in a row was pushing it, so him returning a third time would just be painful. That and he wasn't much of an interesting character, IMO.
There needs to be new antagonists, or at least flesh out older yet underdeveloped ones like Ishizawa, Hibiki or Koogy.
Hahahahaha, I agree, there's
Hahahahaha, I agree, there's no need to see Nanamine return back into the spolight, I really hate that character down to the last ink scratched on the manuscript.
Hmmm, it would be interesting to see a chapter where Ishizawa tries to get into Weekly Jump, but ultimately fails :D
You know what, it would be interesting to read an arc focused back on PCP and Hisshou Jump, where a new up-and-coming artist(but not Nanamine) wants to take down PCP!
Nanamine the character is
Nanamine the character is maybe a bit too "evil" for no good reason, but I have really enjoyed the plotlines he brings up. Why can't a bunch of people work on one manga? What makes a great manga? How is the online world affecting comic artists? I don't think the author or the editors at the real Shonen Jump know the answer, but it is a lot of fun to dig deep into their mindset and learn about how they feel the manga industry is changing with the inexorable march of the Internet.
I also like Nanamine as a plot device because he is like one of the characters we read about in one of Ashirogi's manga. He does something that is kind of crazy, but he has, at least in his own mind, logically and rationally come to these horrible conclusions. If only money matters, then x and y must be true.
Voice Actor Rival
Remember the other voice actor that showed up at the party? She might steal the role from under Miho's nose!
At least, that's what I think might happen.
rival voice actress & hissou
I remember her now...that would be very interesting to read.
@ZERO: I forgot about Hissou Jump. That's a whole new area to explore, too.
Hisshou Jump
That young voice actress, does have potential to get in the way of Mashiro's and Azuki's relationship.
@themistern It would be interesting to see Ashirogi Muto getting attacked from both magazines, to intensify the series!!
OHHHH! Or how about have OTTER NO.11 to STRIKE BACK!!!!!
Bakuman Ending?
I agree, i really didn't like to see nanamine a second time. He just really ticked me off, and not in the good oooh-its-a-bad-guy way. i totally forgot about shizuka too, i'd really like to see more of him.
having ishizawa as a rival would be interesting, but he writes for a totally different company and genre, and isn't really awesome at his job like ashirogi. he just writes 4 pages a month of four panel. i don't think they could really use him as a rival, because ashirogi is on such a different/higher level.
As far as the manga ending goes, i've been thinking at the back of my mind that it might be close to ending. However, i also thought that when they got trap and pcp, that it would either have to end or get really boring, but ohba's really good at coming up with ways to keep it really interesting. So while it does seem like it could end in a little while, i think it probably won't. and i hope it won't, too, because i absolutely love this series to death.
Definitely not ending
Before the magazine went to alpha, I would read from MangaFox and I've already seen the newest chapters. Trust me, when you see the next new chapters, you know the series is gonna continue for quite a while!
Time
The manga can take four week's in only one chapter and a year in at least two volumes. As far i can see it can continue until Mashiro get 80 years old.
... I did like to see how they do the negotiation for publish PCP or Reversi in other countrys.
Things are gonna heat up
Please do not list scanlation sites. Thank you.
- TEAM JUMP
Anonymous
First off, I definitely don't want to hear anyone talking about spoilers from scanlation sites, so I agree with anonymous there.
However... who the heck is anonymous? Just because you sign your name - TEAM JUMP, there is no way I'm going to trust a post like that. If you want to make an official (and thorough please) rule about scanlation sites, please post it in the rules forum, as an actual official person. Otherwise you are a random troll. If you are an actual moderator, I'm sorry if I offend, but this is very fishy, especially since scanlation sites have been mentioned elsewhere in the forum and I have not seen any posts about them.
I'm anonymous...I guess. When
I'm anonymous...I guess. When I edited his post comment, it changed the name. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to go through all the posts to check whether or not scanlation sites have been referenced, but we will be more vigilant about those things in the neartime future.
Glad to know the post is
Glad to know the post is official. I will definitely refrain from any naming or listing of these kind of sites in the future. If you can, could you provide additional clarification on whether there will be a blanket ban on mentioning their existence (let alone their name), past and future, or if there is some nuance to the rules, i.e. just don't mention by name, don't talk about fan translations, don't talk about other manga forums. I know this is a very official website and as such needs to be kept out of grey areas, but I don't enjoy playing pretend if I don't have to.
Thanks for moderating!
Thanks for your feedback!
You have inspired me to write two new rules!
Rule 6 and Rule 7.
Yay! More rules!

Seriously, thanks for the post.

I think...
it might end right when Moritaka and Akito get the anime with Miho in it, then there might be a chapter in the future that show what happened
come to think of it
maybe Miho WON'T get the part in Reversi so Akito and Moritaka need to get a new series that can also get an anime, but then maybe they drop PCP to do that.
Bakuman Ending
I can definitely see Bakuman ending within the year. There's not really much left to do when Mahshiro's dream of marrying Azuki comes true. They could compete with Eiji some more but I don't think the author's (Obha and Obata) would want to necessarily drag the series out for more money. Besides, Bakuman leaves hints throughout the story on how a manga becomes successful, one being that a series should end at it's highest point.
I agree with basically
I agree with basically everything you said.
The series is so dense and has gone on for a long time already, and it's definitely one of my favorite series in a long time, but it shouldn't go on too much longer.
Plus, I'm beyond excited to see what Obata and Ohba do next- crossing my fingers that they remain a duo.
I don't know...
Bakuman is easily my favorite manga, and i don't really want it to end...
Annnnnd, it's over...
Sigh

Its really sad that Bakuman
Its really sad that Bakuman has ending, but like Wild Tiger once said, "All Good Things Must Come To An End."
I look forward to Ohba/Obata's next work, I hope its REVERSI :D
So Bakuman is ending...
will there be a replacement series in Alpha?
hate the anime
I have heard some bad stuff about the anime, such as it drags on too long with tedious explanations, but that's not the reason why I hate it. Its because the series got an anime faster then Mashiro got one in the manga. IT'S AN INSULT TO THE CHARACTERS. RESPECT THE SERIES. RESPECT IT! thank you. I'm done.
hating the anime?
lol, Obata has been in the business a lot longer than Mashiro, perhaps you should RESPECT THE ARTIST! thanks
Respecting the artist
Oh, I have TREMENDOUS respect for Obata, but that has nothing to do with the anime. The artist is rarely ever the same for both. Do the research, and you'll see.
Nononononono!
They need to show how the series gets a video game, and how it all just goes under production!
Now why are they saying that
Now why are they saying that the series has ended?
"Every great series must come to an end. Now that Bakuman has come to a conclusion, SJ Alpha got ahold of the phenomenal writer and artist duo for an exclusive interview for the first time in America!"
http://www.sjalpha.com/node/622
Does this mean it ended with the newest chapter in Japan? o_0
BAKUMAN just ended in Japan.
BAKUMAN just ended in Japan, and this week's chapter in ALPHA is the last chapter.
Bakuman ending?
I don't think Bakuman is going to end just yet, but if you have seen the shonen jump alpha part you have to say that could be a pretty darn good ending. I'm not to sure if I want Bakuman to continue for to much longer. Unless they find a nice new way to create a new arc the story I would say this is a nice place toned the series. I agree that Bakuman should not be dragged on and on it would probably ruin the final ending whatever that may be.
Ending
I thought the ending was great. I was sad yet happy to see it end in such an awesome way. Bakuman was great.
The Ending
it was expectable, but it disappointed me a bit.
