Publish American manga?

Many Americans love manga. A lot of those people also draw manga...
I'm sure that there are other people in the U.S that want to be a Mangaka.
I am aware that there are currently only Japanese Manga in Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha. Since it is digital, there isn't a limit to how many title's can be in the magazine.
Viz Media is an American publisher, then why don't American's publish their Manga?

They usually go to companies that focus on Americans, I'd assume. And though Viz is an American publisher, they focus on Japanese entertainment.

We had a storyboard contest and published several storyboards by American artists in the Bakuman Artist Issue. Also, in the last issue of the magazine which comes out in March, we published a two page comic by an American artist about a fans feelings about the print ending. And this is only the beginning! We have a lot of plans in the works and really want to cultivate the mangaka here. We can't announce anything now, but keep drawing and checking the site!

I have a question about this-

I'm attending SVA (School of Visual Arts) in NYC majoring in cartooning (comics,) and this is my senior year, ending in about two months. My comics are MAJORLY influenced by manga, though don't necessarily look like manga (somewhat like One Piece, somewhat my own style,) and I'm going to have a ton of mini comics sent out to publishing companies soon.

Having said that, is there any way to send some to Viz and SJA, and at the same time, is there any way that it could ever happen? It's been a dream since I was a kid to have my characters alongside my favorites.

...but have you entered any of our fan art contests? And did you enter the Storyboard contest? The winners and runners ups work was printed in the magazine. For now, entering contests is your best bet, so keep on the site and watch for news.

Thanks for your support and never give up on your dream!

I did enter the Storyboard contest, but, due to school and all, it doesn't leave me any time because of all the work (social life? What's that?) So it was super rushed.

Since I'll be out in two months, I'll be able to super focus on future contests :)

I say try it; like maybe they could do another contest where the winner get his or her manga in the WSJA as a one shot.

i personaly am aspiring to be a profesional mangaka or cartoonist of some sort i think american manga would be okay as long as they stick to a japanese manga style or maybe create a seperate section for the american manga

I can think up stories, but not draw the actual manga itself.

Yeah! It sounds like a good partnership.
I could draw and make up the story, but I'm not really good with drawing so much action and detail.

places like dark horse or slave labor graphics take comic submissions; also manga-like works have been published by both places.

I am writing a Manga as well, I've written many pages of my script. Is there any competition for writers to join, I am 15 and home schooled so I get lots of time to work on my script lol. I'm also trying to find a artist but had little luck at that, so you guys have any advice.
