I've been a subscriber to Jump for eight years now and it was a devistation when I heard of the cancelation of the print magazine. Although I think it's a great idea to go digital, I feel like the magazine could have had so much potential .
For example, everybody whose read Jump must have wanted to have their work published in the magazine; Jumpaholics like myself*(* No offense to anyone, I'm just pointing out the countlest hours Ive spent obsessing over this franchise) know of Akamaru Jump*(*Now known as Jump Next!), a seasonal magazine published allowing aspiring artists to be recruited and start their own series. If Viz were to bring this option to the West, there's the opportunity for fans to expirience the world of manga hands on. I'm about to go to college soon and my dream is to become a mangaka but I have no idea where to start. At least with this, there's some sort of assistance.
Along with Akamaru Jump, there are also other publications like V Jump and the beloved Jump SQ. V Jump features publications like every Yugioh series and game spin-offs while Jump SQ hosts several famous manga like D.Gray-Man and Ao No Exorcist, aka Blue Exorcist in the US, as well as sequels to some series like The Prince of Tennis. Sorry about that rant, what I'm trying to say is that along with fan made one shots, serials like the ones listed above can be included so we don't have to wait too long since some series are only released twice or even once a year.
Along with this, fans and readers alike should be able to vote on new series by reading several one-shots and choosing the best series to be published in the US next.
I actually sent this idea to Viz and they replied saying that they were interested with my idea as well as keeping it in mind. Maybe it's real, maybe it's just to shut me up; either way I just feel that Jump magazine is truly something even in print format. My name for the product was called "Jump Omega", mainly representing the crossover of Shusheia's several magazine publications allowing fans of weekly and monthly sertalizations to collide in a new publication.
Thanks for reading this, and maybe could I get some feedback or sugestions. Anyways please comment below and lets try to take Jump and manga publication to the next level, thanks for reading!
