CARDS: YU-GI-OH! Promo Card Details

 

UPDATE: The deadline date to become a member and qualify to receive SUPERDREADNOUGHT RAIL CANNON GUSTAV MAX is now September 30, 2012. Keep in mind this is the deadline date to get a membership. Shipping dates are still to be determined.

We've received a crazy amount of questions and comments about the promo cards, so we thought it best to gather all the information out there into one clean, neat feature.

PLEASE READ the following information, and if you still have a question, then go ahead and ask in the comments section below!

1. I still haven't received my Shock Master yet! Where are you hiding it?!
I checked all over my house to no avail. I then checked under my desk at work, but still no luck! It's probably because we're the editorial office and don't handle card shipping from here.

Shock Master was sent out recently (around the beginning of June 2012), so they are still arriving via mail to our members. If you still have not received your copy by the end of June 2012, and if you definitely qualify to receive this card, write to us at sjalpha@viz.com.

2. Holy smokes! I got TWO Shock Masters! But...does that mean I only get two more cards for my membership?
No. Absolute not. No way, Jose. A shipping mistake occurred while sending out Shock Master. Members are only supposed to receive one copy of each promo card. Yearly members will still receive three more cards after Shock Master, even though two copies were mistakenly sent out. For future card promos, expect to receive only one copy of each card.

3. If I sign up for SJ Alpha now, will I receive Shock Master?
No! The first card you'll receive is Slifer the Sky Dragon (edit: This holds true as of June 2012).

4. Hey you! Where in tarnation is my Slifer the Sky Dragon?
The answer is quite simple. It's still not out! The first promo card, Shock Master, was just recently sent out to subscribers. Expect Slifer about 2-3 months later.

5. I bought a single issue. Do I still get cards?
No! Only SJ Alpha members who have either paid for a full year or had their print subscription transferred over qualify to receive cards.

6. I'm not sure if I'm a member...
Then we can't be sure if you'll receive cards or not! Members are people who have either paid for a full year's access to SJ Alpha or had their print subscription transferred over. If you're neither, then chances are you won't get cards!

There was a mistake on SJA's part that made it seem like I wasn't a member around when Shock Master was sent out to members. The issue did get resolved but does that mean I won't get Shock Master?

If the issue is now resolved, I'd bring this matter back up with whoever you worked with to correct your previous problem. They should be able to take care of you.

there was a mistake with my shipping address and i just noticed it and fixed it i signed up april 3rd or 4th will I still get shock master?

Two number cards i want released are

Number 1 Paladin Prince
Number 2 Paladin Princess

Deadly cards that can only use their effects when both of them are on the field and you can control one of the 2 cards at a time

that didn't quite make sense. the affects work only with both together, but can only control one? they wouldn't work then.

Really, Paladin. You realize that some people can actually look up cards, and these things aren't real. I doubt that there are going to be any TCG Exclusive Numbers, and SJ does not make up promo cards anyways.

Would it be possible for future promos to be sent out to Canadian members first? preferably a few weeks ahead of schedule so we get the promo cards approximately around the same time everyone else does, instead of waiting an extra month after other people get theirs.

Honestly, that's out of our control. A separate printing press handles that for us. Also, geography and your local postal service plays a role in how fast members receive their cards. I don't think cards are sent out in order due to geography. I'm pretty certain they're all sent out in a batch, and depending on where you live and if there are any kinds of customs issues, your card may be delayed.

Which card are you talking about Bernie my man? You missed SHOCK MASTER, but if you signed up recently, you'll get SLIFER later.

It is almost the end of June, and I still haven't recieved SHOCK MASTER. I already know that I suscribed on time to be eligible and that I entered in my address in my profile. I tried to contact sjalpha@viz.com, but they responded with the link to the promo card page which tells me things I already know. Can someone please help me out here?

It was a mistake, so no you weren't. Just be glad you did. Shock Master is a pretty good card. Considering it's a number.
