ugh! why sj i love the print issues way better i loved the thrill of going out and buying my magazines i have a big collection i been building up for years now that ya decide to digital its left a gap in my life..to be honest u guys should have stayed with magazines.please go back to print you guys were better off that way.

I seriously agree with you bro sj was WAY better off with the magazines. it's not that digital is bad it's just that i mean reading on the computer just wasn't my plan when i signed up for this that's because when you 're reading on the computer it doesn't even feel like you own the magazines. This was also supposed to make my summer better so i would have had something to look forward to every monday but this is what i get? C 'MON!!!! WE are the customers so the sj leaders or whatever they are called are supposed to make this a good experience for us RIGHT!? I also hope that they check on the comments that people write because right now I am seriously demanding for the PRINTS!!!

TOTALLY agree with you bro. This is DEFINITELY not what i signed up for!! I signed up so they could send me sj magazines in the mail every week!! I signed up so i could look FORWARD to something every week during the SUMMER!!! I mean reading digitally isn't actually bad but C'MON sj!!! FACE IT!!! You were WAY better off with the magazines than making people sign up and read sj digitally!!!!! You have got to go back to sending magazines in the mail again. DEFINITELY!!!!! I mean we are your CUSTOMERS!!! You have to make this a great experience for us RIGHT!!!!!? And the only way you can do that for me and some of my other fellow sj alpha members is to start sending them in the mail again!!! And no offense but reading sj on the computer just isn't enjoyable. I ALSO hope that you sj leaders or whatever you are called actually READ the comments that your members WRITE because right now i'am SERIOUSLY demanding for the PRINTS!!!!!!!

Submitted by kamkill on Thu, 07/12/2012 - 21:03

you have a shonen jump subscription, you get that manga, there are other manga that you have to pay for on viz if you want to read them because you don't have that subscription

I doubt that anyone who has any sway in the company shall read this however, this needs to be said.

I have been a customer since the very first issue. Every month, a bundle of new adventures would arrive in my mailbox and I would read it and be happy. I ordered them by date on a bookshelf set aside just for them, and took great pride in my collection. I read and re-read each issue, absorbing every word and every detail.
The monthly physical magazine was almost like another friend to me, and brought me countless hours of joy . However, these same emotions cannot be felt through the internet. I cannot hold the internet in my hand and physically feel the weight it carries, I cannot fill an otherwise empty bookshelf with digital media. Even if I COULD figure out how to access the subscription that I paid for online, I still would never feel the same as with the actual magazine.

SJ, you have shot yourselves in the foot by switching to digital, yes you saved money on paper, ink, and shipping, but now you are going to lose the vast majority of your readers, and be forced to resort to ads for revenue. I fear that you may no longer be able to recoup the loss of members from switching to digital. There are ways to get back to the glory you once had, but only if you move soon.

I'm not sure that I count as a person with "sway" in the company, but I'm sorry to hear that our transition to digital is not to your liking. However, just because you may feel one way does not mean everyone else will feel the same. For us to achieve certain goals, including releasing chapters closer to Japan and offering more series, we had to go digital in order to achieve that. I hope you understand that the climate of publishing is changing greatly, and it's always better to be proactive and cutting-edge as opposed to just staying put and watching as the rest of the world passes you by.

Yes i agree with you to hopefully they come to their senses and switch bak to print

Submitted by HolyPaladin on Wed, 08/15/2012 - 17:46

Because of the print issue's ending, i missed out on getting shooting quasar dragon and i miss getting the promo card at the store where i bought the issue's and i started geting them because of Sin Stardust Dragon and got the issue's since then
Honestly, Shonen jump should mail us a small weekly issue with 1 chapter of the manga from 10 different series and a random yugioh booster pack included, and a monthly issue with a promo card we used to get
If they did that, i wouldn't mind paying $100 for them to do this and only subscribers can get this deal

I understand that, however, I think over the next few years SJ will find that the conversion will kill their business. Manga will always be better in physical print I think. I hope I'm wrong and SJ will flourish, for the sake of those who have yet to experience the joys I have.

Despite my hopes, I cannot continue to pay for a service that I can't figure out how to access and requires internet access to use.

I know the change annoys you, man, but it's here to stay. change is and always will be apart of all our lives. while we can't enjoy having it right in front of us in our own hands, we can still read it. I know i would gladly read Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha every week digitally than not read it at all, you know? I know this probably isn't helping, but i had to put my 2 cents in, man. Respect.

I'm sorry to hear that you won't continue with SJ ALPHA, but thanks for your kind words regardless. I also hope this works out, if not...time to look for another job! All jokes aside, if we wanted to do everything on our wish list (simultaneous releases which we are working towards, bringing more series, etc), we had to do this.

Submitted by Samyueru on Wed, 08/01/2012 - 11:39

Hey john, what are some of the things on this wish list? I'm curious. Sj Alpha is epic and i love reading it weekly. I want to see how you make it even more epic.

What I don't get about the digital version is that even though I have a subscribtion they still want me to pay $0.99 to access the digital SJA issues. It makes sense to ask for a one time subscription fee and then allow the subscriber to enjoy what he's paid for.

i agree with u all the magazine is way better and i collected for 5 years i have over 70 magazines it made life so worth ever since i read it 1 time on the computer never liked it id atleast expect promo cards from my subscrbsin

Over that last few days of me trying to get my issues resolved, I've noticed this message appear each time I've logged in to my ShonenJumb.viz.com account.

DITTO493

Expiration:
NOT A MEMBER

Does this mean that my subscription has ended? It shouldn't be over because I had over 6 months left on my printed subscription before I converted my account to digital. That should mean I have 1 year's worth of SJ Alpha, right?

I'm sure that my Shock Master will be arriving soon since I fixed my shipping address, but now I'm worried that I may not receive my Slifer or Guastaph Max if my subscription has prematurely ended.

As I've stated earlier I also would like to know if everyone is required to buy each issue of Alpha with or without having a subscription or if this is a technical problem that is preventing me from enjoying the online manga I originally subscribed to in January. So should I be able to access them without paying more than what I initially payed back then or not?

On top of all that I haven't received any replies from sjalpha@viz.com concerning any of my numerous e-mails.

This is an overall view of all my issues with Shonen Jump Alpha and I would like them to be dealt with ASAP.

Thanks,
ditto493

It seems that I am now a member after I reconverted my printed subscription and I can actually access Shonen Jump Alpha now! Yay!!!

So now that I've got that figured out, is there a way to see the all the SJA issues that I've missed up to now? This doesn't mean that I'm going to miss the Shock Master reshipment and Slifer does it?
