Do I need to catch up!?

I just looked at the online manga for weekly access and I noticed that the One Piece chapter was way ahead of where they left off on the paper magazine.

I know that the paper magazine isn't ending until March, so is it going to catch up, or do I have to catch up with something like XXXXXXXX!?

There is no way the paper magazine is going to catch up. AFAIK Viz has not announced plans to catch up to these manga anytime soon.

In my opinion, this is a really bad idea on their part, though they probably have little control over it. The end result is yes, you will probably get some value out of visiting XXXXX to catch up.

However, I'm going to exercise a little restraint and not do so. Now that Viz is publishing the manga pretty much in real time, I think it does a great disservice to keep supporting sites like XXXXXXX which continue to publish these titles. I think it is more than reasonable to at the very least remove Bakuman, Toriko, Naruto, etc. from their line-up, and I think Viz is completely in the right if they try to get them shut down if they don't.

Also, having read a lot of manga off of XXXXXX in the past (I buy the print media from Viz so don't judge!) the fan translations are much worse than Viz's translations 90% of the time at least. Even times when you think the translation seems okay, if you later go and read the professional translation you find the fan translator usually missed out on interesting subtleties, inflections, etc.

I really hope they are at least talking about getting you print readers caught up with where print left off. I personally don't mind because I've kept up with my favorite series through my own means, but to those who haven't, this will be crutial in the transition to digital.

Hopefully they do so you guys don't have to resort to scanlations to get caught up, that would be counterproductive to the goal sj has laid out.

I have to agree with everything you said, however, be that as it may, I have no other medium in which I may catch up. Frankly speaking, I hate XXXXXXX but its my only option at this time.

1. Please don't mention any scanslation sites here. I took out what you wrote and put "XXXXXX." I would appreciate it if you don't mention them at all here. It offends my delicate tastes : )

2. We realize there are some gaps in the manga and we are working on a solution. If you feel lost in the story, these "Warp Into" pages should help.

Since we can't mention "those sites," I would recommend checking one the One Piece Wikia (not Wiki) and reading their chapter descriptions, or, you can watch the anime for the chapters that they cover.
