Eye Witness AccountWhat constitutes strength? Is it the desire to help out a friend in need? Or is it the desire to take revenge on those who struck first? In the world of Naruto, we've witnessed several characters attain greater powers for a variety of reasons. Naruto, always trying to get stronger to help those he cherishes, is now capable of combining the Rasengan with his Wind nature to create the Rasen-Shuriken. Sasuke, on the other hand, seeks power for vengeance, and his abilities have now advanced to the point where his powers have surpassed Orochimaru's. Let's take a closer look at Sasuke's evolution, specifically focusing on his ocular powers.
The Awakening
Sasuke first activated his Sharingan — the Kekkei Genkai particular to the Uchiha clan in which the user can mimic any jutsu it witnesses — in Cell Number 7's epic duel against Zabuza and Haku. During this momentous battle, Sasuke was trapped within Haku's Ice Crystal Magic Mirror Technique. Faced with this grim situation, Sasuke's Sharingan manifested itself, but was still incomplete. However, Sasuke was still able to use his Sharingan to dispel Haku's illusions and track his movements.
Complete Sharingan
Before he joined Orochimaru, Sasuke's Sharingan only contained two marks. During his fight with Naruto, Sasuke's Sharingan evolved, with the third and final mark appearing. After that occurred, despite the Nine-Tailed Fox Spirit's chakra increasing Naruto's strength and speed, Sasuke saw all of Naruto's movements clearly and was able to anticipate any attack. His brother, Itachi, obtained the Mangekyo when he killed his closest friend, and Sasuke was faced with a similar situation when he defeated Naruto. However, Sasuke wasn't willing to tread down the same path his brother took.
Disillusioned!
Sasuke's Sharingan progressed to where he could distinguish Chakra colors, an advantage he exploited to the fullest in his life-or-death battle with Deidara. Moreover, Sasuke was able to break free from Itachi's genjutsu with his mastery over his Sharingan, despite the fact that he did not possess the Mangekyo at that time. During the final moments of their battle, a tired Itachi transferred some of his powers to Sasuke, including the Mangekyo. Ever since Sasuke acquired the Mangekyo, his eyes have taken a new atomic-like appearance, but Sasuke soon found out that using the Mangekyo puts a strain on his eyes...
Eye Control
On his mission to hunt down Eight Tails for the Akatsuki, Sasuke's genjutsu had become powerful enough to break down a ninja's resolve and force him to divulge information as if under a trance. He also discovered that he could cast ocular jutsu like Amaterasu with his Sharingan and even extinguish the black flames. With this newfound power and control over the Sharingan, is Sasuke powerful enough to take on Konohagakure?
