REVIEW: This Week's ALPHA

Cover
art by Kazue Kato
Hey, there’s a nice Blue Exorcist cover to look at! Very easy on the eyes. I like the beautiful art against the white background. We don’t run too many covers with a white background. Has a rather dramatic effect, wouldn’t you say?

Blue Exorcist
by Kazue Kato
Great chapter! Good main plot progression, as well as some wacky exorcism antics! There’s a strange ghost haunting the school and attacking male students! When Rin and classmates try to bust the ghost, they get quite the surprise! I have to say, I’m a fan of the comedy in Blue Exorcist. Mangaka Kazue Kato Sensei has a knack for dreaming up kooky scenarios. It keeps the manga from getting too dark.

One Piece
by Eiichiro Oda
A showdown between legendary swordsman Zolo, and super-mean harpy-lady Miss Monet comes to a shocking conclusion! It’s nice to see Zolo in action! He’s always a cool cucumber under pressure. Except when he tried to cut his leg off when he was trapped in the giant wax candelabra, he kind of lost it there. But that was a long time ago.

Toriko
by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro
Nice mellow in-between chapter. I’m a fan of many strange random things, and one of those is “in-between manga chapters.” It’s not a fight, there’s little drama, but it sets you up for the next part of the story. It’s like walking down a “story hallway” to get to the next part. If it’s done well, it’s an enjoyable experience that sorta resets and relaxes your mind before jumping into some real storytelling. I may be overthinking this.

Cross Manage
by Kaito
Sakurai’s life just keeps getting more and more complicated! He’s trying to be the manager of an all girl lacrosse team, but his past as a gifted soccer player keeps coming back to haunt him!

Bleach
by Tite Kubo
Yhwach drops a bomb on Ichigo! Not a weapon-type bomb that explodes, but a super-shocking piece of information! I have to say, I did not see this coming! Wowsers!

Takama-ga-hara
by Jyuuzou Kawai
So long, Takama-Ga-Hara! It's been a super-fun, action-packed, humorous ride and I’ve enjoyed reading you quite a bit. I’ve especially enjoyed the art! And the flying squirrel gun, who could forget the flying squirrel gun? In this final chapter, Yamato and crew battle guys from the land of the dead to save their friend Mizuho from a terrible fate! Find out how it all ends!

Any bets that Cross Manage ends in 8-10 chapters?

I agree with U on this new manga. And hope SJA can find a good long runing manga soon!

Is dancing on the bottom row for rankings, so it's a possibility that it will get axed by Jump in Japan and thusly get chopped here. It's not a bad story but we'll see.

That in the last 5-6 weeks WSJ Japan has cancelled 4 series and started up 4 new series and 1 series ended and was replaced. so when these things happen here realize it's what's happening the same way in Japan.
