REVIEW: This Week's Issue!

Cover
art by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro
Our foodiest cover ever! If this doesn't make you hungry for the juicy eats and beats Toriko serves up, nothing will! We had quite a bit of fun in the office figuring out what all the food was. The only one that gave us trouble was the dried cuttlefish by Komatsu's head, and the crab meat to the right of Toriko. Can you name everything on there?

Toriko
by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro
Seen a lot of battles in all my SJ days, but I've never quite seen one like this—hair vs. bugs! Sunny's super-powered hair versus Tommyrod's endless army of bugs! This is a great battle for a few reasons: 1. It's totally bananas. 2. It's very strategic! 3. It's got lots of twists and surprises. No doubt, it's the best super hair powers versus super insect powers fight ever drawn. Seriously, I don't think anyone's ever done that. We're breaking new ground here, folks!

Bleach
by Tite Kubo
Holy backstory, this is getting complicated! I won't ruin any of the surprises, but I'll just say you'll be surprised. Unless you're some kind of Bleach genius and somehow knew or suspected this all along. I am not a Bleach genius. I am not an anything genius. That I know of. Anyway, the very end should have the fans talking!

Cross Manage
by Kaito
Not to sound like a broken record every week, not to sound like a broken record every week, not to sound like a broken record every week, but Cross Manage just keeps getting better and better! The story has really found its footing, and the characters are coming to life. It's gone from something I enjoy reading but don't really think about that much, to something I look forward to and love discussing with the other SJ editors.

One-Punch Man
story by One, art by Yusuke Murata
Another laugh-out-loud chapter of One-Punch Man! No seriously, I did laugh out loud a few times. After disposing of The House of Evolution's genetically-altered attack squad, depressingly overpowered Saitama and his cyborg sidekick take the fight to the House! Murata Sensei's art is simply amazing. This guy is truly at the top of his game. I never get sick of looking at his work. So much energy! So dynamic!

Dragon Ball
by Akira Toriyama
WAAHHH!!! Cool chapter of Dragonball! The fight between Raditz, Goku and Piccolo is coming to a head! There is some great dialogue between Goku and Piccolo in this chapter as well.

World Trigger
by Daisuke Ashihara
Aha, more members of the cast are revealed in the form of Border Agents arriving after Yuma dispatched the marauding neighbor. The new characters are interesting to say the least, especially the girl. Looking forward to learning more about them and Border itself.

Nisekoi
by Naoshi Komi
The teacher's picking the seating arrangement for the new semester, and let's just say—things get hectic! Will Raku get to sit next to the girl he likes? Does he even really know who he likes? And which of the lovely ladies will end up getting the lucky seat next to him?

I have the android version of the Viz app and I cannot get the newest issue to download. When I click the 'Download' button it says 'Waiting' then goes back to a download buttton. I tried deleting a previous issue to clear space but that didn't help. I was able to redownload the issue I deleted no problem but the newest one is refusing to download. Any idea what is happening?

I'm using a 2nd Gen Asus Nexus 7. I had no problem downloading issues till today.

It's downloading now. Not sure what the issue was must have just been due to the issue just released and everyone was downloading at once.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Glad to hear the issue's resolved!

1. Bleach - Uuryu being ichigos cousin was a little surprising, but that cliff hanger was awesome!!! Why is ichigo's hallow also a VasteLorde?
2. One Punchman- Funny as always
3.World Trigger - Love this new Series. Hope it has a long future
4.Nisekoi - was amusing, but a little lacking. The original love triangle has returned haha
5. Dragon ball- such a classic manga scene coming up next week
6. I don't read Toriko (Despise this manga for some reason) or Cross Manage (It will be canceled soon anyway, why start?)

Your Bleach hypothesis is slightly wrong.
It is a Hollow, and it is not a Vasto Lorde; it doesn't quite resemble a human. Shaped like, but actually looks nothing like, a human. I do not think Uryu and Ichigo are cousins. Masaki was friend to Ryuken. No family relationship.

She is adopted in to the Ishida family, therefore they are 'adoptive' cousins at least.
I guess it is technically just a hallow for now and not a vaste lorde. My bad!

An incredible issue this week!

Thanks to Cross Manage, I've managed to get the missing piece of influence I needed for my art style, which is influenced by various mangakas from SJ and other groups. I incorporated it into the characters I'm working on and my overall style has been boosted. Although, what medium of story-telling I choose depends on many factors, it may either go the comic way or something else entirely like a game. If I lived in Japan, I would probably try to submit it to SJ.

Movesets, or fighting arts, were influenced by mangas like Rurouni Kenshin, Naruto, Bleach and so on. Any Manga with a good and well thought out fighting system always stirs my imagination. If you can incorporate your character trying to think of ways to fight an opposing fighting style, it really adds great depth. The more intricate, the better, that is what I'm also trying to accomplish with my own work.

Despite this issue being shorter, I enjoyed EVERY thing this issue.
Great DB and Nisekoi (Shu was hilarious!)
One Punch man made me laugh today, as well as hooking me for next week.
Bleach was... just... AWESOME!
Cross Manage was interesting. I am surprised it has kept me hooked so long.
