Remember the old adage, “you are what you eat?” Luffy and Toriko are both crazy powerful guys, so it’s no surprise that their inhuman strength reflects their inhuman appetite. And now that the pair goes on a hilarious adventure together with the latest SJ Alpha digital gift, Taste of the Devil Fruit, let’s take a look at some epic pig-out moments in both One Piece and Toriko.
One Piece of M-E-A-T!!!
Ahh, the power of meat—proteins and iron and all the other good stuff that gives the body a much-needed energy boost. Though Luffy might not understand the nutritional benefits of meat, what he does know is that it tastes great and gives him the massive energy boost he needs to face down other wannabe contenders.
Invading the World Government’s judicial island Enies Lobby does wonders for the appetite. In fact, Luffy’s so exhausted and hungry that he doesn’t even bother waking up to feast after his historical jaunt into enemy territory.
Against all odds, Luffy somehow survives his encounter with Impel Down’s toxic warden Magellan, who possesses the power of the Venom-Venom Fruit. Besides the miracle work done by Ivankov, it was the power of meat that gives Luffy the energy to further infiltrate the prison stronghold Impel Down.
Es Muy Toriko!
Taking down gourmet goons while trying to complete a dream full-course menu is no easy feat, and Toriko’s the best in the business. Toriko is serious about his cuisine, and who can argue with that?! After all, we’re talking about a man who lives in a house of sweets that’s in constant need of repair because he keeps eating it!
See You Later Alligator
A single human consuming a whole alligator sounds unreal, so try imagining eating a 300-year-old gator that weighs 13 tons! Toriko’s first adventure with Komatsu finds them hunting and eating a whole Garara Gator, one of the Gourmet World’s most expensive and hard-to-obtain culinary delights.
Going to Town
When Toriko visits Gourmet Town, the epicurean metropolis known as “The Big Full,” he means business. Toriko and Komatsu are in town to visit the world-famous chef Setsuno, but before they do so, they stop off for a few quick meals. At one ramen shop, Toriko devours so many bowls in one sitting that the shop is forced to close down for the day!
