Hello! I'm d1r31.
I was really happy to discover WSJA. I would never have subscribed to the print edition & much prefer viewing manga on my iPad. I currently follow Naruto, Bleach, Nura, & Bakuman.
I have been going on and off SJ for a few years, I discovered it when I was probably 10 years old. There were a whole lot of chain reactions that lead me here:
1. My Uncle gave me a Plug-In-To-Play DragonBall Z game.
2. I didn't know what DBZ was until after I got this game.
3. I looked up DBZ.
4. Watched the anime.
5. Stumbled upon SJ, and read DBZ manga.
6. Read other manga, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach (the others didn't hook me as much).
7. I discovered Akira Toriyama was a boy not a girl, LOL.
8. Learned to draw manga.
All this happened in approx. 4-5 years.

You learned to draw manga? That's pretty cool. Unfortunately, I have no artistic ability. Perhaps you could post some of your work? Or maybe you already have?
It sorta came to me as I went along and kept reading manga, at first my drawings looked pretty pre-amateur.
But eventually I sorta understood how to draw. As for posting my work, I really haven't posted my work or sent in any fan-art, but I'll try in the future.
P.S. I never watched those how to draw videos, and I never used the way most comic artists and manga artists draw, but recently within the past 2 or 3 years I have started to use the technique.
It sounds like you were first developing your own unique style. Now refining it w/ some learned technique. When you decide to post your artwork, please let me know!
Sorry, I didn't reply in such a long time!
I guess that's what I was sort of doing!
And, ummm..., I am sort of busy right now because I have a lot of tests and exams coming up (all this month and next month), and I'll try to submit some fan art during June/July. As of this moment, I am quickly typing this up right now.
