CARDS: YU-GI-OH! Galactic Overlord

If there’s one thing that Duelists just can’t get enough of, it’s Dragons! So brace for impact, because on May 8, Galactic Overlord booster packs will hit the streets, bringing both futuristic and ancient Dragons together in one incredible set!

The big new thing from Galactic Overlord is actually a big...old thing! Over 5000 years old to be precise! The Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis has the best kind of defense—an incredibly devastating offense! It can annihilate anything and everything in its path, provided you have enough monsters in your hand or on the field to fuel its fire.

The best way to stoke the fires that form the heart of the Overlord is with other Hieratic monsters. Most Hieratic monsters leave behind a Dragon-Type Normal Monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard when you Tribute them, so burning a massive hole in your opponent’s defense actually lets you Summon even more monsters!

And what better monster to complement the ancient overlord than the super-futuristic Neo-Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon! This 4500 ATK behemoth will no doubt draw parallels to the mighty Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, and for good reason. Using a Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon as one of the Xyz Materials for Neo-Galaxy Eyes has the added bonus of negating the effects of every other card on the field, and Neo-Galaxy Eyes’ regular effect lets you absorb all opposing Xyz Materials and turn them into extra ATK and attacks.  Absorb three Materials? Attack three times! That’s over 9000 points of damage aimed at your opponent!

If you can’t wait till May to get your hands on these new Dragons, you can check out a local Galactic Overlord Sneak Peak on April 28 or 29. Learn more HERE!

The hieratic monsters and strategy looks pretty amazing to me, and definently going to pick up a box of Galactic Overlord. My concern however are the xyzs, there going to be hard to get. Atum is a super rare that will match or even surpass the price of Inzector hornet and Heliopolis is a secret rare. Not only that but you need to get gebeb, a super rare, and seal of reflection, also a super, and seal of the ashes, a secret. But other then that the rest are easy commons and rares, just want to list my concerns. Also, anyone who pulls card car "d" , KEEP IT! It's going to be the next tour guide or maxx "c" for sure, pushing $60-$100, just because its an incredible secret rare card that people want to run in three's. Just saying. But yeah, still can't wait for this set, especially the hieratics, hopefully won't be too hard to build...

For the hieratic otk decks, I also feel that something should be pointed out, the rank 10 xyz essential to the otk won't be released for a while after this set is. So those type of decks won't do as well as antisappated up front. Will be interesting to see for sure how people build the deck to try and get around this weakness for the rank 6 version. Until then I think the more controling lv 8 or even hybrid versions are the way to go. Hieratics are still amazing, its just that they won't be able to effiecently otk for a few months or so.
