Now that Bakuman is ending....

Forums:

We literally are going to have like 3 or 4 more chapters of the series. Now that it's ending, can we get an official statement on what you're going to put in the magazine next?

For those who don't know- http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-04-18/bakuman-manga-to-end-on-...

I'd like to say, I know everyone wants Reborn back, and I'd be fine with that, but I'd rather get something fresh that hasn't been printed in the US ever. It would be great if it was a non action series like Bakuman as well (when we already have 5 others....)

Wahoo :) That's all I need to hear.

Thank you guys so much for giving us such fantastic content.

It's been four years. A bachelor degree and a presidential term later, the saga is finally complete.

It looks like my recurring joke prediction of a Muto Ashirogi

Spoiler: Highlight to view
murder-suicide

ending might not happen. I was actually hoping for it to last one more arc and actually offer a grim, stark reality of things such as Mashiro managing new success, marriage, etc. But a possible happy ending for an Ohba & Obata series? Hey, nothing's impossible. :P

As for a replacement, I'm not a fan of REBORN!, but it's good business regardless to give the fans what they want. I'd personally choose Gintama, since it's really madcap.

Anyway, I can't wait to read the ending.

I still can't believe it's over. It's a bitter-sweet moment. The end of the road always is. As for it's replacement, what about Kurogane? It's relatively new in Japan, and it's a sports manga about kendo. Personally, I think it's got a lot of potential. There's also Medaka Box, Kuroko's Basketball, Magico, and Niseoki. If you want a non-action, then I'd recommend Niseoki and Pajamo no Kanojo.

I hope Reborn! is added in Bakuman's place. It would probably be a big risk licensing something like Pajamo no Kanojo which could be cancelled at any moment.

I enjoyed Bakuman and now with an opening slot I hope Reborn will be able to join the ranks of Alpha. I'd be overwhelmed with joy. Reborn and Gintama are the best candidates for joining Alpha since they are both established long running series with exceptionable fandoms that would do anything for more releases. And since both series were placed on hiatus, what better way to send fans into a frenzy than bring them back with a bang in Alpha while introducing both series to new potential fans?

now i would say it would be Hunter x Hunter, but they recently went into another hiatus, so I'm curious what it will be. Hopefully they announce it soon!!

FrankyCenaur, I completely agree with your statement, we must have the same taste in manga. We have plenty of action series. Fresh is great, and I love non-action titles. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of One Piece and Naruto, but we don't need more of the same. Bakuman was witty, funny, intense, and realistic in all the right ways... I hope we can get something similar.

Yeah, we need a nice mix. I'm a huge fan of One Piece myself, but too much of one genre is no good.

I wouldn't mind a sports series, that lacrosse manga that's premiering this week has beautiful artwork, but I'd also love Gintama back.

Also, guys, please release whatever new series that's coming out in graphic novel volume format as well!

Let's get a popular series that hasn't been publish before. I say Nisekoi. We need a good Shonen romance manga, plus it's actually very popular in Japan.

That would seriously make me cry with joy if Reborn! rejoined the party! I understand it went on hiatus here and you guys might want something fresh but the only reason why it started off slow was because of the gag arc from chapter 1-61ish, now that it's become a battle it has become a well done fantasy battle and it would be really awesome if you guys considered it. Gintama would be a good choice too i believe. But if you guys do not want to go with that idea i would say you should do MEDAKA BOX. I'm sure others would agree. Especially since the anime for that just started. But i would prefer Reborn! because it would be closer on par with popularity with One Piece, Bleach, Naruto

Of the three, I would actually say it would make more sense to try and see if some old licenses can be brought back in the safety that is WSJA, where there is much less to lose compared to printing it; naturally, I'm throwing my support behind Reborn! or Gintama (of the two, I'd lean to Reborn!) Given that the Gintama movie is coming out at the end May on both Blu-ray and DVD, with dub and sub on the disk, this could be a good time to advertise Gintama too....

I honestly would subscribe if they added Reborn!. They don't even have to release the volumes (but if they do, they should make it print AND digital, never digital-exclusive). It would be cheaper for them to license the chapters and put them in WSJA to satisfy fans.
