Editor and King of the Forums Urian Brown gives his take on this week's issue of Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha!
art by Takeshi Obata
Did this cover turn anybody else’s eyes into Niagara Falls? It’s so touching! The soft colors, the matching white dress and suit, the whole thing is beautiful. Also, it looks like they’re looking directly at the viewer as if to say, “Thank you, for coming to our wedding.” I may be reading a bit too much into this.
by Eiichiro Oda
Look at this color spread! The Straw Hats have gone gangster! Everybody’s dressed in black and packing heat! Oda’s color spreads are in a league of their own. Also, the story is finally settling down a bit and starting to take shape.
by Tite Kubo
Ohhhh…this arc is starting to shape up, too. I love every part of a manga story arc. The mysterious beginning, the pieces falling into place, the battles the conclusion and the afterward, it’s all part of the magic journey of manga!
by Masashi Kishimoto
The master of fantastic flashbacks, Kishimoto, has really given us a zinger with Kabuto’s flashback. I gotta say, I love flashbacks in Naruto, they give you such a better understanding of the character’s motives. But I never thought Kabuto would get one!
by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro
As an old school Kung Fu movie fan, and a long time SJ fan, I love training segments! It’s such a great way to see a protagonist improve, and this current training section in Toriko is one of the best I’ve ever seen. So deep! So creative!
Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan
by Hiroshi Shiibashi
WOW!!! This is one of the best single issues of Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha, yet! Every manga is absolutely on fire! After some small pre-battles and skirmishes, Nura goes all out and the results are breath taking. Anyone serious about art needs to read this manga.
story by Tsugumi Ohba, art by Takeshi Obata
Whenever a manga ends, it’s bittersweet. Always sad to see it end, but happy to see the way it works out. And not give anything away, but this manga has a real classy ending. Touching as well. And Moritaka’s got a dope ride.
