CARDS: YU-GI-OH! Call to Arms!

Duelists! O Duelists!

Come, pointy-haired Duelists! Get your Spell Cards ready! Have you your Monsters? Have you your sharp-edged Traps? Because this month, Shonen Jump Alpha wants YOUR original strategies!

Pushing the Limits
The Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game is about three things: Friendship. Adaptability. Strategy. Gruesome monsters fighting to the death. (Okay, that’s four.) All of these depend on Duelists swapping ideas, on the battlefield or off, so this month, it’s your turn to go global. Pioneer the way and send us your favorite strategy or card combo. Think you can knock our socks off with your ingenious strategy? Then our socks stand at the ready!

Guidelines
Tell us about your favorite card-combo in the comments section below, and we’ll feature the top five next month! When selecting strategies, we'll keep the following in mind:
Originality
: Can you think of a way to use a card that always seemed pointless? Maybe you can find a shortcut that makes your strongest monster super-easy?
Playability: Yu-Gi-Oh! heroes always draw the cards they need when they need them.  Too bad that you need luck and Deck building skills in real life. Make sure someone could realistically play a combo, then double-check it on the Forbidden and Limited lists.
Effectiveness: What does your combo do? Is it worth the time, skill and luck you’ll need to set it up? Are there any other cards that can do the same thing more easily? Think about all these things before submitting. You may find a way to make your strategy even better than it is already!

To Pay or Not To Pay
Not all costs are bad. When you look at a card with a high cost, try to think of a way this could help you. Could having lower life points be a good thing? Would lowering or raising a monster’s Level help with more than just summoning Synchros or Xyz monsters? The answer may surprise you!

Mix and Match
Card archetypes support themselves, it’s true. But can you find a way to make two archetypes support each other? Would adding a Lightsworn improve your Amazoness deck? Could a Naturia help your Warriors? Go on, get crazy. You might strike strategy gold!

Or drop step 2 and 3, replace those cards with Galaxy Queen's Light. A lot simpler, and more consistent.

Alright, I run a warrior deck that's focused on Xyz Summoning Utopia, Shark Drake, and Excalibur( or the other 19 Xyz monsters I have. This is my MAIN strategy:
1: Summon Marauding Captain
2: Activate Double Summon
3: Normal Summon Trident Warrior
4: Trident eff: Special Summon Shine Knight in Defense mode so it's treated as lv4
5: M Captain eff: Special summon Blade Knight
6: Overlay lv 4 Blade Knight+ Shine Knight+ Trident Warrior= No.32 Shark Drake
7: Attack the opponent's monster and Use Shark Drake's effect: detach Blade Knight: special summon opponent's monster in attack+ it looses 1000 ATK.
8: Repeat your attack.
9. End Turn
10. On your next turn, summon Warrior Lady of the Wasteland
11. Activate Monster Reborn on Blade Knight
12. Overlay Warrior Lady+ Blade Knight for No.39: Utopia
13. Attack w/ Shark Drake + use his effect: detach Trident: spec summon opponents monster: losses 1000 ATK
14. Attack again+ use Utopia's eff
15. Quick- Play Double or Nothing
16.Attack w/ Shark Drake( 5600 ATK)
17. Attack w/ Utopia (that should end the duel)
This strategy can get a good lead on your opponent, especially if this could be done on the first or second turns of the duel. :D

First summon Lava Golem on your opponents field, then once you end turn and they start theirs....use Nightmare Wheel. Basically 1500 lifepoints worth of damage per turn. If you want to make it a little more potent then make sure you have Dark Room of Nightmare in play....it bumps up the damage to 2100

Submitted by TechGenusMaster on Mon, 09/17/2012 - 18:20

For 3100 damage per turn.

Submitted by BODMAN on Mon, 09/17/2012 - 16:43

a good neos knight combo is to summon terra firma and another elemental hero. use T F's effect, mainly a strong fusion, and fuse neos with terra firma for a 3750+ neos knight

Submitted by TechGenusMaster on Mon, 09/17/2012 - 18:22

Terra Firma, use his effect, tribute an in play Absolute Zero, bump ATK to 5000, and destroy all monsters opponent controls, 5000 direct damage, whereas Neos Knight does no damage, but is good a clearing field.

2) Set 5 in the backrow including at least one each of Starlight Road, D-prison, Gemini Spark, Bottomless trap hole, and mirror force.
3) Win the duel (usually).

this is my alltime favorite card combo.
for this to work, you will need; a high level monster (in your hand), a face down magical hats, an active ultimate offering, and another low level monster.

heres how it works, summon a monster and then bait your opponent into attacking, once you do activate your magical hats. now since the cards you whip out with magical hats are treated as monsters until the end phase, you can then use your ultimate offering, if its still your opponents battle phase, and tribute the "hats" for a high level monster. this works really well with the legal god cards.

well, there you have it, its like pulling rabbits (really big rabbits) out of a hat

Submitted by TechGenusMaster on Sat, 11/17/2012 - 17:26

Great Combo!
Too bad Ultimate offering is limited...
Still awesome.
And improvement would be this:
Instead of a god, try Beast King Barbaros.
When he is tribute summoned using three monsters, ALL of your opponents field magically disappears!
Even Better Magic!

summon galaxy wizard and raise his level to 8

play galaxy expedition and summon a galaxy eyes from your deck

summon galaxy knight from hand

xyz summon neo galaxy eyes and negate all opponents monster effects

Submitted by alexs0623 on Mon, 11/19/2012 - 17:55

The strategy is utilized in a deck combining Dark World and Yubel

1. Use Dark World Dealings to put Grapha the Dragon Lord of Dark World in your graveyard

2. Use Mystic Tomato/Monster Reborn to summon Yubel from your deck/graveyard

3. Summon Broww/Brron/Snoww and return it to your hand to special summon Grapha

4. Use Grapha to destroy 1 monster your opponent controls

5. Tribute Grapha to keep Yubel alive, making it so your opponent has to destroy Yubel 3 times to get to your life points

6. Repeat steps 3 through 5 every turn until you can either destroy Yubel or until your opponent destroys her.

What do you guys think? This strategy can realistically take only 1 turn to set up or hell even perform, so, what do you guys think?

Submitted by CJNite on Mon, 02/11/2013 - 11:45

I love this combo:
1)Set two anti-attack traps (i.e.:Negate attack and Sakuretsu armor) and a Mind Haxorz
2)Summon Raging Flame Sprite.
3)Engage battle phase.
4)Use RFS's effect to attack directly and gain 1000ATK
5)End turn, protect RFS until next turn.
6)Set a Mind Haxorz
7)Repeat 3/4.
8)End turn, protect RFS untill next turn.
9)Play Mind Haxorz, defend/plan accordingly
10)Repeat 3/4.
11) Repeat as long as possible or until you win.
