CARDS: YU-GI-OH! Return of the Duelist

This summer’s Return of the Duelist booster packs will give all Duelists out there the opportunity to shape their Dueling destiny when it hits on August 28. To whet your appetite for destruction, here’s a look at few cool new fate-defying cards making their debut in REDU!

Prophecy Destroyer
Prophecy Destroyer
takes top marks for being the most terrifying monster in recent memory. It’s a Level 6 Spellcaster with 2500 ATK with a special ability that ensures it will live long enough to make sure your opponent’s monsters all go extinct!

Prophecy Destroyer feeds off Spellbooks, special Spell Cards available in Return of the Duelist, that considerably enhance the abilities of Spellcaster-Type monsters. Banishing three of them from your Graveyard after you’ve already played them lets you Special Summon this massive monster from the Graveyard for free! It’s always nice to have an unyielding embodiment of destruction on your side!

But what then? Constantly reviving Prophecy Destroyer can quickly use up your Spellbooks, so you’ll need to get your hands on more. Fortunately, there’s an entire library of them waiting for you once Prophecy Destroyer empties them out of your Graveyard.

Spellbook Library of the Crescent
This card only works while you have no “Spellbook” Spells in your Graveyard and only if you agree to not use any non-Spellbook magic. In return, you get to choose three different Spellbooks from  your Deck, shuffle them up, and add one to your hand at random. Moon-based magic is known for its unpredictability, but you can lower it’s margin for error by choosing the two Spellbooks you need most and Spellbook of Secrets.

Spellbook of Secrets
Spellbook of Secrets
gets you any “Spellbook” card from your Deck, even if it’s a monster like Spellbook Magician of Prophecy. So if you manage to borrow Spellbook of Secrets from the Library, you can play it to get Spellbook Magician of Prophecy, you can Summon him to get the Spellbook you wanted initially. The result? You get exactly what you wanted, and you have three Spellbooks to feed to your Prophecy Destroyer!

The more Spellbooks you have, the closer you get to fulfilling your own winning prophecy. You can get your hands on them first at the Return of the Duelist Sneak Peeks being held on August 18 and 19!

i have a ps3 and recently found out that i can by old final fantasy games of ps3 store. im stuck between final fantasy 6, 7, and 8. if anyone can please recommend which is better

I personally think 6 is better than 7, but that is because 7 was around when I was a little kid, but the 7 fanboys overhyping it ruined it for me. It's kinda like when people told me in high school that The Hangover was "the best movie ever," it got me hyped to see it, but when I did, I was met with disappointment, and that dropped major points for it. I feel that since 6 wasn't met with such an overhyping fanbase, it made it better for me. I recommend 6, but if you haven't had 7's fanboys get to you, I'd get 7.

7 is the best of all time.

The Prophecy Destroyer card looks nothing like YuGiOh Card artwork. That's my opinion, looks a bit too realistic. I like it.

Prophecy Destroyer looks very "Magic the Gathering-esque."

Submitted by luffylover on Sun, 08/05/2012 - 14:42

The art on the cards got cooler and more "Magic: the Gathering"-like.

Submitted by TechGenusMaster on Sun, 08/05/2012 - 15:50

i thought it looked like a magic the gathering meets summoned skull too. he has a tin coming out, fyi. its jan 13, 2013.

although i do like the prophecy monsters konami's rarity bump of most of their main cards into ultra has turned me off. i shall however go to the sneak peek of this set to pick up a play set of Noble Knight Gawayn for my noble rabbit heroes. i'll just wait for the tin to get prophecy destroyer for collection purposes

agree

Hate this years wave of collector tins except Heroic champion excalibur tin for 4 reasons
1. Doesn't focus on the protagonist/antagonist main cards
2. Reprints of cards for tin promo from most recent sets (photon shockwave, order of chaos, galactic overlord)
3. Most people have the cards from the collector tin's name (evolzar dokkia, hieratic sun dragon overlord of heliopolis, prophacy destroyer)
4. Tin promo reprints lack originality and need ultra rare promo cards

Submitted by HolyPaladin on Mon, 08/06/2012 - 23:38

I would not even buy this tin because it's overall creepy even if it had shooting quasar dragn as a tin promo, I would rather spend $26 just to get that 1 card instead of the tin, prophacy destroyer is an embarassment to yugioh and I believe it's trying to influence us to turn to magic the gathering cause it looks like one of those cards

Submitted by Terracon417 on Mon, 08/20/2012 - 09:05

So because a card has a different style of artwork it automatically registers in your mind as Konami trying to make us leave their products and switch to Wizards of the Coast? Not seeing how you came to this conclusion.
It's a Prophecy Destroyer, in some discussions this card is viewed as a mock of the end of the world, of course it's going to have a darker style of artwork. Because it's a new artwork it's an embarrassment? WTH

Submitted by HolyPaladin on Mon, 08/20/2012 - 11:11

first of all, what is wizards of the coast
Sencond of all, the tin promo's revolved around the main characters ace cards or connected to the main theme of the series, it the tin had a number card on the tin's atrwork, wouldn't mind buying it since Number Cards are the new theme
third of all, the prophacy destroyer tin is tooooooo Creeeeeepy

Submitted by Terracon417 on Mon, 08/20/2012 - 22:34

First, Wizards of the Coast is the company that owns MTG (Magic the Gathering), Yu-Gi-Oh is run by Konami. In your last post you made the foolish comment about Konami trying to get us to go to Magic, which is a game they have no affiliation to and would cause them to lose money.
Second, the tins haven't connected to main characters since 2010, and Prophecy Destroyer is a big piece in a deck style that Konami probably wants to promote for future Meta games.
Third, then don't buy it! Don't go around saying it's an attempt to get people to leave Yu-Gi-Oh and go to a rival card game, a comment so foolish and just plain idiotic, I can't even imagine why you would say it.

im trying to build an awesome yugioh deck right now anyone have any ideas?

Submitted by animecraze69 on Mon, 10/29/2012 - 20:11

Ok well I'd say ninja deck XD I made that deck it got me too regional final round but on top of that there are new cards that will come out for the deck because there are some new cards for it the only card I need is #11 and blade armor ninja then I have every card up to the galactic overlord booster arrg!

Submitted by TechGenusMaster on Tue, 10/30/2012 - 06:37

You mean Number 12: Crimson Shadow armor ninja.
Number 11 is Big Eye.

Submitted by animecraze69 on Tue, 10/30/2012 - 08:31

I know what I said I have #12 crimson and as I said to complete my collection of every card since it first came out to galactic overlord all I need is #11 and blade armor ninja lol but thanks anyway XD

Submitted by TechGenusMaster on Tue, 10/30/2012 - 09:37

OH! You mean EVERY card in GAOV. Ok.

Submitted by animecraze69 on Mon, 10/29/2012 - 20:08

Yo now that I look at this card better it does not look like magic at all it looks like a rage of bahemut card but anyway the cards effect sux I dislike the card for its effect if your gonna give it great artwork why give it a crappy effect like common! T.T butya like that guy said if the world is to end that will represent it U.U sigh... I hope not >.> Oh ya the tins aren't that bad I have cards but they make the tins for the less fortunate if you people would understand that not everyone waste their money on cards it's also to get new players interested as well so stop hating that you spent $80 on a pack box and pulled only one of them cards it's instant gratification on top of that all I do is buy one pack from each booster then I wait for tin it hasn't failed yet! Also hope we have more tins lol! I want a new yugioh where all types of cards are used in a deck!
