REVIEW: This Week's ALPHA

Cover
art by Masashi Kishimoto
Check our special cover to promote the upcoming anime movie, Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie. There are several things about this cover that jump out at me. For one, Sasuke’s smiling (been a while since we’ve seen that)! And he’s also wearing some cool bling. I love that Might Guy is reading a book called, “COOL BIZ.” And holy Hubba Bubba, look at Hinata! That’s not her usual demure look!

Naruto Special One-Shot Manga: Road to Naruto the Movie
by Masashi Kishimoto
This special one-shot manga sets up the events that happen right before the anime movie Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie, out now in theaters in Japan. And if you’re fans of wacky bathhouse hijinks, well you are going to love this chapter!

Bleach
by Tite Kubo
This week's chapter of Bleach is rad! And insanely creepy! Byakuya faces off against a freaky Quincy with the power to cause fear and hallucinations! Kubo Sensei has a talent for the macabre and this chapter will make your skin crawl.

Barrage
by Kouhei Horikoshi
Action-packed chapter! It looks like Astro is up against his deadliest opponent yet—Tad Pole! Well, he is quite deadly, despite his cute name! Anyway, it’s cool to finally see Astro taking on a foe that is resistant to his ultra-powerful orgue!

Blue Exorcist
by Kazue Kato
In order to get caught up to Japan, we’re giving you two chapters of Blue Exorcist this week! The first ties up the Impure King arc rather nicely. And now that the members of the True Cross Academy have been through such a major crisis and survived, it looks like they’ve finally gelled as a group. In the next chapter, it’s a beach party! With a giant sea monster! The perfect mix of fun and danger!

Takama-ga-hara
by Jyuuzou Kawai
Well, this manga didn’t take long to start serving knuckle sandwiches at the all-you-can-beat buffet! While the story details are sparse, you can’t argue with the action! Now, that is some real fine punching! I love manga with punching!

Toriko
by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro
Anybody else feel like this chapter read like an epic kaiju monster movie scene? You know, where the army mobilizes all their tanks and aircraft against Godzilla, only to have them swatted away like flies. It’s a formula that never gets old! Especially when it’s drawn in a manga with so much finesse!

Naruto
by Masashi Kishimoto
I know I’ve been saying this for awhile now, but this manga is on fire! So many amazing storylines are being tied up leading to the final showdown between Naruto and Tobi! The explanation of the Ten-Tails is really cool, as well. I’ve haven’t read many manga battles with such a sense of epic scale. Can’t wait until next week!

Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal
Original Concept by Kazuki Takahashi
Story by Shin Yoshida, Art by Masashi Sato
Production Support: STUDIO DICE
The mystery behind the numbers continues to deepen as more characters obsessed with collecting them appear! And is it just me, or is “Dr. Faker” the best name for a villain in a manga ever!
