I'm glad ZEXAL has been added; however, does this mean the other chapters such as Bleach and Barrage are going to be shorter?

Submitted by agitoz on Sun, 07/01/2012 - 18:08

The "magazine" does not get magically shorter whenever we get new Kenshin or the preview for Zexal ran. The advantage of digital means they don't have to worry about things like printing costs.

Not to mention getting shorter chapters would be on the part of the original artists themselves.

same here. It's not jump without yu-gi-oh

Submitted by onepiecefan1 on Sun, 07/01/2012 - 19:42

i was hoping the new series was going to be kurogane or kuroko's baskekball but its yu gi oh zexal
SJA should pick a variety of series that is apropriate for sja and to figure what new series to add they should have a survey. i'd have to say im disapointed is it that the editors want something that they reletivly know already eh whatever someone please reply

I'm VERY disappointed with the choice. Really? Yu-Gi-OH Zexal? Kuroko's Basketball, Medaka's Box, so many other good choices in Jump to choose from. Unless you're going for the 8 year old demograph, this was a bad idea.

Submitted by onepiecefan1 on Sun, 07/01/2012 - 22:21

i agree with you, they pick yu-gi-oh over all the other good manga series like you said kuroko's basketball' and medoka's box, i am very disapointed as i said in my comment

Yeah, it's very disappointing... One, it's another monthly series...

And two, I feel like the older audience is being forgotten. A lot of people grew up reading Jump, and a lot of people want the series for an older audience now. It's fine to put series in for kids too, but we're already lacking a real adult series for Jump like Gintama, H x H, etc.

Submitted by Rychy on Mon, 07/02/2012 - 09:39

Are you kidding me?!! This isn't even funny, it's just a slap in the face. They're not only forgetting the older audience, they're just disregarding what everyone here is asking for. Of all the incredible monthly Jump series, first a Kenshin remake and now this ... it's frustrating.

If we don't like this trend, we need to make it known.

Can't wait for John Bae to "try" making this one sound like they had the readers in mind.

Yeah but I myself love Yugioh and I am not an 8 year old either lol! What is wrong with liking great manga? But, really you guys are right SJAlpha sure dosent take the readers choices into account like they clame they do. I mean why ask us for a vote on a sarvey when they will just over look everyones anwsers in the end.

Submitted by WeatherReport on Mon, 07/02/2012 - 10:51

It's great to see a second MONTHLY SERIES in jump now! Kenshin was much appreciated, and I'm alright with this one (guilty pleasure). Does this mean that over time we'll be rounding out the entire month with different series (2-3 more), and is there a possibility of voting involved??

Submitted by susakeshadow on Mon, 07/02/2012 - 10:52

You guys its not like they can get the series for free and just give it to us! it takes time and money to get the series translated and such. Hopefully we can here an anoucement about a new series at Comic-con

Submitted by Rychy on Mon, 07/02/2012 - 12:27

Just like they didn't get this series for free either. They made the decision to license and translate it. Obviously we just can't keep blindly hoping that they're going to add the series we want. I've gone through a number of threads and saw one request for Zexal. One.

Submitted by dUsTeAtEr on Mon, 07/02/2012 - 11:16

I'm glad another monthly series is being added, even if it's for kids while the readership is older. I just hope they eventually add the entire Jump SQ lineup or have an alternate monthly online magazine, because fans are really upset about them ignoring series like Blue Exorcist, Claymore and D. Gray-Man. Scanlations are looking all the more enticing when we can't get new material monthly and have to wait 6-8 months for a new volume for something like Claymore. And we need a weekly series to replace Nura (preferably Reborn!)

I'm so happy their finally showing yu gi oh zexal. My deck uses mostly xyz monsters. its my favorite series so far.

Submitted by shaikadzari on Mon, 07/02/2012 - 15:44

It's disappointing. I think a lot of your audience in North America are adult and I'm sure most of them don't care at all about Yugioh.

Gintama, Medaka Box or kurogane would be far better choice.

Submitted by AnimeBros777 on Tue, 07/03/2012 - 15:44

I highly disagree. Although YGO is pretty childish (I still like it). There are quite a few adults who still play YGO. Plus I agree that Medaka Box should be added.

Submitted by Trunks20 on Tue, 07/03/2012 - 08:08

I agree that they could have picked a better series that is available in Shone Jump and at the same time I agree Shonen Jump is not Shonen Jump with out Yu-Gi-Oh. But Some of the choices would not fit the two week behind schedule. All

Submitted by Pdidy on Fri, 07/06/2012 - 04:30

While I do like that Zexal is part of the lineup (being a YGO fan), I do hope that this is the first in a line new mangas that I can read from the beginning on a weekly basis. It'll take a while to catch up with mangas like Bleach and Naruto. That's why I was excited for Rurouni Kenshin: Restoration, and Barrage, because its something that I can read and get my moneys worth. I would read any new manga that comes out, it just happens to be Yu-Gi-Oh, which is a bonus to me.

Yeeaaaauuuuuhhhhh!!!!!!!! it ain't JUMP without Yu-Gi-Oh!

So, I love Yu-gi-oh! And I'm not a kid. I'm glad that they are including Yu-Gi-Oh!, but...Zexal? Really? I loved the GX manga when it was in jump, and then they started the 5d's manga before it switched to digital...why can't it be either of those? 5d's gets less credit than it deserves. It has a good story to it. The GX manga wasn't bad, either. Really random at times, but not horrible. I like it much better than the GX anime. But Zexal...it's like they took some of the big points from the original Yu-Gi-Oh! and tried to remake them... but it just isn't the same. You can't rip off something that was amazing and expect it to be great; it just isn't the same. The backstory behind Zexal (anime, at least)...ugh...anyways...5d's? I miss it...

They shouldn't put in something rated "A for all ages" when it's a T-Rated magazine being read by young adults. And I'm getting sick of all of the generic shonen battle mangas. We need something like Koisome Momiji or at least a battle manga meant for an older audience such as Claymore.

I wish they would stop making these; Yu-gi-oh GX was bad enough!!!
