Card of the Month: Number 96:  Dark Mist

Of the many Numbers scattered over the world, few are as deadly as Number 96: Dark Mist. Granted, though it might not be quite as malevolent in real life as it is in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal anime, Dark Mist is still deadly in the right hands. This month, we’re here to make sure that the "right hand" is yours!

You Will Be Assimilated
Dark Mist needs three Level 2 Monsters for its material, a daunting task for even the most skilled Duelists. However, Dark Mist will reward your hard work the moment he enters battle. By detaching one Xyz Material, you cut your opponent’s ATK by half and increase Dark Mist’s ATK by the same amount.

Who You Are in the Dark
Even though you can boost Dark Mist’s attack as many as three times, you still need to choose its attack targets carefully. Your opponent will likely switch to the defensive, so know what you’re hitting—attacking a high DEF, low ATK monster can have deadly results if you haven’t powered up yet.

Getting Back Some Change
Examine the exact mechanics of Dark Mist’s effect. It doesn’t just make Dark Mist stronger, it also makes enemies weaker. Think about how an indestructible monster would become a walking whipping-post with only half its ATK. And your opponent will really start to sweat if you can also force his monsters to attack. Be creative  and try to have fun with this one!

Try This

Right to Bear Arms
Combine Synchro and Xyz for an extra punch! When equipped to Dark Mist, Armory Arm inflicts damage to your opponent equal to the (original) ATK all monsters it destroys.

Venus in Blue Jeans
For a quick summon, use The Agent of Creation – Venus’s ability to summon three Mystical Shine Balls. Each is Level 2, so stack 'em up and throw Dark Mist down!
