Divide and Conquer!

Winning a duel is simple mathematics with these cards!

Many of today’s strategies benefit from sending monsters to the Graveyard early on. Burning Abyss monsters have special effects that activate when sent to the Graveyard, as do Shaddolls. Other Decks, like Infernoids or Nekroz, just need to build up a supply of monsters in the Graveyard to use for other things. Some, like Lightsworn, fall into both categories. No matter why you need monsters in your Graveyard, if the monster you want to send is Level 4 or lower, Mathematician can do it for you!

When you Normal Summon Mathematician, he’ll send any Level 4 or lower monster from your Deck to the Graveyard. Aside from the various Shaddolls and Burning Abyss monsters, Mathematician has also been a very popular way to use Tuner monsters that can Summon themselves from the Graveyard. Felis, Lightsworn Archer Special Summons herself if she’s sent from the Deck to the Graveyard by a monster effect, so just by Normal Summoning Mathematician, you're able to Synchro Summon a Level 7 monster like Arcanite Magician or Black Rose Dragon!

Glow-Up Bulb is another popular Tuner monster that can Summon itself from the Graveyard. Combine it with your Mathematician and you can Synchro Summon Herald of the Arc Light to deny your opponent a Spell Card, Trap Card or monster’s effect. Alternatively, you could use the two to Summon Armory Arm to pump up your best monster and add game-ending effect damage to its attacks! You can even drop cards like Djinn Releaser of Rituals or Shurit, Strategist of the Nekroz into the Graveyard to make Ritual Summons easier and more powerful. Even if Mathematician gets destroyed in battle, he still helps you out by letting you draw a card to replace him, much like the ever-popular Card Trooper.

Mathematician’s a monster worth his weight in gold, and that’s why he’ll be available as a Gold Rare for the first time when Premium Gold: Return of the Bling drops on March 20th!
