Xyz Monsters are unique because the monsters you use to Summon them fuel their abilities as Xyz Materials instead of going to the Graveyard. They’re easy to use, but their power quickly runs out, sometimes after only one use. Stronger Xyz Monsters take more Xyz Materials, but they can use their powers for a longer period of time. Number 86: Heroic Champion - Rhongomyniad gives you the choice of how many Level 4 Warrior-Type monsters to use for its Xyz Summon (anywhere from two to five) and has five different powers to use!

Special Effects!

With at least one Xyz Material, Rhongomyniad can’t be destroyed in battle. With two or more Xyz Materials, Rhongomyniad gains 1500 ATK and DEF. With three or more Xyz Materials, Rhongomyniad becomes immune to all other card effects. At four or more Materials, your opponent can’t play monsters anymore, and if you get the full five Xyz Materials on Rhongomyniad, you can wipe out all cards your opponent controls.

Instead of paying for effects by detaching Xyz Materials, Rhongomyniad simply detaches one Material during each of your opponent’s End Phases, so you’ll want to work fast and win the Duel before its power runs out. Fortunately, Rhongomyniad is a “Heroic Champion,” which means that the “Heroic Challenger” monsters can be used to quickly Summon it with lots of Xyz Materials.

Winning Combo!

You’ll need Heroic Challenger - Assault Halberd and Heroic Challenger - Thousand Blades, also from World Superstars, and any three other “Heroic” cards. Your opponent will also need to control a monster. First, Special Summon Assault Halberd from your hand, which you can do if your opponent controls a monster and you don’t. Then, Normal Summon Thousand Blades. Thousand Blades lets you discard one “Heroic” card to Special Summon any “Heroic” monster from your Deck. Use the effect to Summon another Thousand Blades, then use that Thousand Blades to Summon a third Thousand Blades. Finally, use that third Thousand Blades to Special Summon Heroic Challenger - Extra Sword.

Combine all five monsters together to Xyz Summon Number 86: Heroic Champion - Rhongomyniad, and he’ll gain a sixth ability: +1000 ATK when Xyz Summoned. This works because Heroic Challenger - Extra Sword gives Rhongomyniad an ability, and it’s only unaffected by other cards. Since the 1000 ATK comes from within, you’ll wind up with a 4000 ATK monster that can wipe out every card your opponent controls. Your opponent now can’t put any monsters on the field, and they can’t affect Rhongomyniad with any card effects, so all they can do is lose when Rhongomyniad attacks a second time on your next turn.
